WORKSHOP – RELEASE, RELAX & RESTORE
Stress is part of everyday life and there are many factors which can trigger a stress response.
This time of year can be particularly stressful as we approach The Christmas holiday season, it’s also the time of year when daylight hours are at their shortest.
Why not treat yourself and take time out in this mini retreat for 2 hours of absolute bliss – just for you!
Picture the scene:-
You step into the beautiful studio to find a mat, some myofascial balls, a bolster, some blocks and a heavy, Indian, yoga blanket waiting for you.
The instant feeling of relaxation is magnified by the flickering candlelight and the aroma of calming oils.
You’ll choose your space and at first you’ll be aware of the other class members also on their mats, though they will soon fade into the background as you spend the next 2 hours working on your own body.
First you’ll release tension in the areas you hold it most ( buttocks, shoulders & upper back), using myofascial balls.
Then you’ll be guided through some deeply restorative yoga postures – the restorative postures are passive and held for a longer period of time with your body fully supported by bolsters, blocks and blankets.
As you practice the physical, restorative postures you will stimulate the vagus nerve to activate your body’s ‘rest & digest’ response – in other words you will find a state of mental and physical calm.
The 2 hours of physical practice will pass before you know it………….
At the end of the class you may have dozed off (some do, some don’t) but you will leave feeling completely relaxed.
Before you go, if not too sleepy, then stay and chat over an anti-inflammatory (Almond milk, turmeric and Cacoa) Hot Chocolate or tea (Builder’s or herbal).
No experience of Yoga necessary!
